Much love for Massive Attack

Mon, Apr 22, 2024

While Massive Attack wasn’t previously on my musical radar, I recently came across a powerful article on NME (link here) that made me want to learn more.

The article highlighted their impressive commitment to social justice. Since 2002, Massive Attack has chosen to boycott performances in Israel in response to a request from Palestinian civil society and artistic institutions. This non-violent stance aims to advocate for an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

This MA tweet embedded in the NME article is pure joy to read:

Massive Attack have not performed (& will not perform) in Israel since the international request was made by Palestinian civic society & artistic institutions in 2002 (reiterated in 05 as BDS) as a form of non-violent pressure on Israel to end its brutal occupation of Palestine.

Their dedication to this cause is seriously inspiring, and it definitely makes me want to check out their music. And I do love me some trip-hop.

no amount of propaganda should tell you this is right, righteous or justified.
